The main character is a boy named Tom Sawyer who lives with his aunt Polly and younger brother Sid. He is a playful boy who does a lot of pranks and we can tell that at the beginning of the novel.

Most of the adventures recorded in this book really occurred; one or two were experiences of my own, the rest those of boys who were schoolmates of mine.
